Addressing a press conference, Randhawa questioned the settling down of the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, specifically in Jammu city, and claimed that it was a conspiracy to change the demography of Jammu region.

He noted that a few families of Rohingyas have grown into thousands within a short span of time. “We have called upon the authorities for the deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis to save Jammu. There is serious concern over the threats posed by the uncontrolled mushrooming of their population, which is threatening to cause demographic changes in Jammu,” Randhawa told reporters.

“We protested against this menace at every forum through the ‘Jammu Bachao Andolan’ movement. Many immigrants were arrested but their population is still rising, which suggests that they should be deported from India to their home countries,” he said.

He pointed out that some locals have settled these Rohingyas in the ‘jhuggis’ raised on the state land and were collecting rent from these illegal settlers. Randhawa called for snapping the power and water supply to these illegal settlements. “The persons giving shelter to these immigrants should be identified and dealt with an iron hand,” Randhawa demanded.
